• DISCUSSION OF OPEN SPACE PLAN
Discussion took place on how the committee should initiate the open space
planning process for the City of Shorewood. After a brief period of discussion on
the option available to the committee, consensus was made that the committee
should conduct a citywide survey through the monthly newsletter. The survey
would poll the citizens in regards to their preferences of open space and open
space conservation. Fred Bruno stated that Daniel Ehrke might want to contact
Washington County and the Minnesota Land Trust, since in the past they have
conducted their own surveys.
Daniel Ehrke state that he will have a draft of the survey ready by the March 14`h
meeting, which will enable the committee to finalize the survey. It is also agreed
upon that the survey will go out with the April 2000 newsletter.
The committee also decided that a community wide meeting will be held April
29t`, to aid in the citizen participation portion of the Open Space Plan. Discussion
took place on having this event coincide with the DNR's Arbor Day Tree
Seedling Program. Daniel Ehrke will be contacting the DNR on the possibility of
obtaining some tree seedlings to give out to the citizen's on April 29`h.
