MINUTES
. Park Comm. member absent: Robert Nygaard. See City Clerk minutes for
additional details. After motion Park Commission retired to the teacher's
lounge for additional meeting.
Chairman Goettelman acknowledged receipt of $100.00 from Bruce Carmichiel
for use of the Badger Field for their annual tournament. Accepted with
thanks. It was noted that the Field was left in excellent condition.
Short discussion regarding liason between Park and Planning Commissions.
It was suggested that the Park Commission recommend to that Council that
a Park Maintenance Manager be appointed, preferably Dennis.
Brief discussion regarding the flooding of hockey rinks, time elements and
hopefully rinks can be started earlier next year. Commission intends to
complete a list of park maintenance needs. Meeting adjourned - 9s30 P.M.

MINUTES
Presents Chairman Goettelman, Breckheimer, Drews, Lindstrom, Schmid and
Stein.
Absents R. Nygaard.
Guests Herb Baldwin, Arch. of Pflaumwell Development Partnership.
Chairman Goettelman called the meeting to order at 7x40 P.M.
Mr. Baldwin reviewed plans for the Near Mountain project with the Commission.
Mr. Baldwin is the designer of the project. Land being owned by Mr. Lind-
quist and Mr. Baker. Project involves two communities, Shorewood and Chan-
hassen. Physical aspect is a beautiful piece of property of which 177 acres
lie in Shorewood. Shorewood density is based and calculated on net -
Chanhassen is based on gross. City of Shorewood would contain 61.72 acres
of wetlands. There will be 657 dwelling units per 325.8 acres comprised of
single units, double, town houses and apartments with at least two major
entry roads and possibly four. Complimentary passive areas, primarily open
to contain tot and picnicing space. Two basic park sattalites from 2 -5
acres planned. Major park areas with fields etc. will be in Chanhassen.
Some of the definate areas will contain their own tennis courts etc. Detailed
drawings and maps were received enthusiastically by Commission members.
Potential problems with control of easements were discussed, especially re-
garding homeowners with lake access. There are 61 acres of open area.
The commission felt that there should be a possible public access at the
northern end of the development and will persue the discussion of possible
narrow walkway along the lake edge for public use. Brief discussion res
water facilities. Developments over 10 lots should provide own water sys-
tem. Question of Shorewood getting water from Chan., etc. Looking at
possibility of own deep well. Questions of wetlands being deeded back etc.
Members of the Park Commission will meet at Pleasant View on Thursday,
April 5 at 5130 p.m. to view Near Mountain and Silver Lake.
