Minutes of Meeting

The Meetin was called to order at 7:45 P.M. by the Chairman.
P;iinutes of the last meetin.� were reviewed and corrected as follows.
In the section of the minutes headed "Discussion of building pro-
jections" the sentence which read "We will have approximately 50-
60,000 residents by August" was corrected to read "We will have a
possible500 -600 new residents by August and approximately $50,000-
60,000 in the Park Fund. The balance of the minutes were approved
as submitted.
A brief update on the project at Badger Park was presented by John
Breckheimer.
Mr. Tim Erkkila, Vice - President of Midwest Planning and Research
Inc. addressed the Park Commission. The Metropolitan Council of the
Twin Cities Area has revised ( in October of 1978) their Metropolitan
Land Planning Act Comprehensive Plan review. This revision has caused
Shorewood's Long Range Park Plan to become insuffieent in a number of
areas. Attached is a copy of Mr. Erkkila's review of the Shorewoodd
• Park Plan and his comments. The revision of the Shorewood Park Plan
to conform with the Metropolitan Plan Review will result in Shore-
wood having a much improved opportunity for grant money to expand
their Park Program. The failure to revise the Park Plan will make
it impossible to aquire these funds. The fee for having Midwest Plannin
do the entire revision is $3500.00. This amount can be reduced if the
City performs some of the needed revisions. This subject will be
further discussed at the next meeting. This revision is required by
state law.
Next meetings February 5, 1979 at 7s30 P.M:. All members are urged
to attend.
