PARK COMMISSION MEETING
Minnewashta Elementary School
September 18, 1978
X I N U T E S
The regular meeting of the Park Commission was called to order by Chairman John
Breckheimer at 7:45 P.DI., September 18, 1978 at the IVIinnewashta Elementary School.
Present were: John Breckheimer Gordon Lindstrom
Bob Nygaard Jean Raby
Roger Stein
An up to date report was presented by John Breckheimer on developments of the Park
Building for Cathcart Park. The building for which stern Watten designed and made
plans for was rejected by John's request after seeing some of the quotes which John
felt would run over the amount the City had set aside for the cost of building.
The Octagon building Councilwoman Jan Haugen presented some time ago is now being
investigated and hopefully will materialize on the Cathcart grounds before winter.
A question was brought up as to the moving of the Park building at Badger Park.
Jerome Studer felt there would be no advantage, at this time, to move it; as far
as the garage equipment was concerned. Jerome was told that the building movement
was the Council's recommendation.
The rearrangement of the ball field at Cathcart was also discussed in some length.
The reasonings behind some proposed changes was to make more use of the open area
that now exists.
Gordon Lindstrom is going to make some measurements at that park to see if it is
possible to put another ball diamond on the field without changing the one now there,
with the exception of moving the present diamond some to facilitate the new Park
building.
The bike trail for Smithtown Road was touched upon by showing of the layout prepared
by Jim Norton, of the specifications etc. required of anyone that bids on the
installation. Just when the bids will go out is not known at this time.
Meeting adjourned at 8:45 P.14-
Gordon Lindstrom, Acting Secretary
