7:30 p.m.
The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairperson Hill Wyatt. Members present:
Win Drews, Jim Heiland, Judy McCusky, Jean Raby, Jim Robin, Roger Stein, Tom
Schmid. Council Members present: Steve Frazier, Jan Iaugen, Jack Rattner,
Bill Keeler, Bob Naegele. Also present: Debbi Fellman of Minnesota ,Erviron --
mental Science Foundation and Vern flatten, Planning Commission.
Drews reported on the joint meeting of South Shore Park Commissions veld May 31st
in Excelsior. Items discussed at the meeting included common problems:- council-
commission communications; Greenwood bike trails; Bill Shaw on bike trails ;;
using Jim Jones of Minnetonka Community Services more. A second meeting is
planned for September.
Fellman presented the long- -range park plan and proposed publication. It was
suggested that a more positive statement relative to cross- country skiing be incor-
porated in the plan. A number of alternate park sites were suggested
MOTION: Brews moved, Heiland seconded,that Fellman and MESP proceed with
the park plan booklet and that rough copies be available,for
proof -- reading at the June 20th park commission meeting. 'Carried.
MOTION: Heiland moved, yews seconded, that the building designed by
Watten be constructed at .badger Park and that the Badger warm -
ing house be moved to Cathcart. Defeated.
MOTION Robin moved, Stein seconded, that the Commission, through, Watten,
proceed with informal bids on the Cathcart building (both full
and part construction) immediately.. Carried.
`Ihe Commission gage- Watten a September 30th deadline for completion of the
Cathcart building.
The Council on a motion by Haugen, seconded by Keeler, approved the above motion
to proceed with the park plan booklet.
McCuskey inquired of the Council about the possibility of strengthaine the dedi-
cation ordinance regarding developers giving land or dollars. By general consent
it was decided that the park commission will study this question and submit Bug -
gestions to the Council regarding possible ordinance changes.
A general discussion by the Commission and Council followed on the Cathoart
park building.
MO'T'ION: Heiland moved, Robin seconded, that the Commission pay the Watten
firm up to $500 for the detailed drafting of the Cathcart biiild-
ing bids. Carried.
