Title / Subject: Joint Council, Park, and Planning Commission Meeting

Policy Consideration: None
Background: the Council is holding a joint meeting with the Park and Planning Commission on Tuesday,
May 3. Staff suggested two items for discussion with the two Commissions be Sustainability and another
discussion with the Planning Commission on Smithtown Crossing.
I spoke to a couple council members who felt it wise to go into the meeting with the two commissions
with a bit more structure and purpose. This discussion will be to agree to a plan of action for this
upcoming joint meeting.

Options:
Recommendation / Action Requested: Discuss and create an agenda / plan for this meeting.
Next Steps and Timelines: Staff will prepare and distribute the agenda to commission members.

Policy Consideration: None
Background: council and staff began the process of creating a strategic plan for the next few years. It is
important to keep this process moving forward. To do so, Council needs to establish a calendar for
meeting to work on the plan. It is suggested that the Council establish time apart from regular council
meeting days and not try to do this as part of a pre-meeting work session.
Staff also suggests that Council set the meeting times so staff can participate as well.
