June 2012 Shore Reporti7T1:a iTi 1 36-- Municipal Water Report .Available T he annual water report is online at www. available at the reception desk in city hall. If you ci.shorewood.mn.us and will be published have any questions regarding the information in the legal section of the June 7 issue of the found in the water report, contact the city's Director Excelsior - Shorewood Sun Sailor. A copy is also of Public Works, 952.960.7913 Road Construction in Full Swing S ealcoating, mill and overlay, road patching, and other major construction projects are taking place throughout Shorewood. When your street is directly affected by a construction project, the city will notify you with a letter explaining necessary precautions you must take, a general timeline, and other important information. Unfortunately, it is impossible to notify everyone who uses a particular roadway, so keep informed by checking the road projects updates on the city website, under "Streets ". It is important that drivers are aware that they must slow down when driving through construction zones. Construction crews are concentrating on the project they are working on and, although they try to keep an eye on traffic, they are often distracted and may not see your vehicle. If you have young drivers in the household, make sure you review construction area driving safety with them. It is also a good idea to put down the cell phone when driving through road construction areas so you can focus on any sudden hazards. If you have a question about a Shorewood road project, feel free to call city hall, 952.960.7900, or email jlandini @ci.shorewood.mn.us. Moving Wood Regulated in the County urrently it seems the Emerald Ash Borer has remained toward the east side of Hennepin County. To slow the progress of the ash borer's move west, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture quarantined the movement of some wood out of the county. Regulations of this quarantine are: 1. The Emerald Ash Borer in any living stage of development. 2. Entire ash trees. 3. Ash limbs and branches. 4. Ash logs or untreated ash lumber with bark attached. 5. Uncomposted ash chips and uncomposted ash bark chips larger than one inch in diameter in two dimensions. 6. Any article, product or means of conveyance when it is determined by the Commissioner to present the risk of spread of the emerald ash borer. 7. Firewood of any non - coniferous (hardwood) species. The emergency quarantine applies to movement of these materials by any entity for commercial, recreational or any other purpose. In Shorewood we are in the unique position of having Carver County as a boundry. Unfortunately this makes the drop off locations for wood west of Shorewood inconvenient, because you may not transport through Carver County. To transport the wood to west Hennepin drop off locations, you must enter through Mound. Drop off locations for tree waste are available on the city web site under "Yard and Tree Care ", or contact your garbage hauler. If you have questions, please contact the city, 952.960.7900.
