Sanitary Sewer Construction Planned for 2013
Staff from Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) and the
City of Shorewood are hosting a neighborhood meeting to discuss the route
and construction of a new regional sanitary sewer in Shorewood. The
meeting will be held from:
6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, September 19, 2012
Shorewood City Hall
5755 Country Club Road
The new regional sewer will be a force main which conveys pumped
wastewater. Construction is planned to begin in 2013.
This project is located along the southern part of Lake Minnetonka and
includes portions of the cities of Excelsior, Greenwood and Shorewood.
The force main currently serving the area was constructed in 1971. The
proposed project will add a second force main and provide improved
reliability, operability, flexibility and redundancy. In the City of Shorewood,
the new force main will be constructed along Excelsior Boulevard (between
Manor Road and St. Albans Bay Road) and along Covington Road (near
Resurrection Cemetery).
City and MCES staff want to receive input early in the project design from
property owners near the construction route. Area businesses and
residents are encouraged to attend the meeting on September 19, ask
questions about the project, and communicate any special needs they may
have during construction.
