Property Valuation Notices Mailer'
Hennepin County is in the process of mailing
property valuation notices to Shorewood
residents —watch for it in your mail. Residents who
have questions regarding their property valuation
notice or who wish to discuss the estimated market
value for their property should call the Hennepin
County Assessor, 952.249.4640.
If you are not satisfied after discussing the
information with an assessor, you may appeal your
valuation notice at the Open Book meeting. The
Open Book meeting for Shorewood is scheduled
for Monday, May 6, from 5 pm - 7 pm at City Hall.
The meeting is conducted underthe authority ofthe
Hennepin County Assessor, which will conduct an
"open- book" process for valuation appeals. At the
Open Book meeting, the county assessor's staff will
review the valuation with the property owner. The
valuation reflects a property's value on January
1, 2013, and is used for property taxes payable in
2014. Anyone who is unable to attend the meeting
on May 6 may retain their right to proceed to the
County Board meeting to be held in June. You must
file with the State Tax Court by April 30. Specific
information about this is listed on the back of your
valuation notice.
Construction Season is Comina
e welcome spring weather,
but not particularly the
inconvenience of spring road
construction. As soon as roads
are dry, public works crews get
busy patching potholes and
repairing damage that occurred
over the winter to area roads.
City crews are responsible for
all roads in Shorewood except
State Hwy 7 and County Road
19. When you see public works
crews working, please make
sure you slow down and pass
with caution.
Planned Road Work
A list of summer road projects
planned on city roadways was in
the March Shore Report. The list
is also available on the city web
site. If your road is going to be
under construction this spring or
summer, you will be notified by
letter of the construction.
Major projects taking
place this year which
might affect traffic
include the Smithtown
Trail Project from the
Victoria Border to the
LRT trail, a Met Council
watermain project on
Old Excelsior Blvd from
downtown Excelsior east
into Shorewood, and the
installation of a raised
median and crossing lights on
Highway 41 near Minnetonka
Middle School West.
As always, extra caution
is necessary in construction
zones, and speed fines double
if you are ticketed speeding in a
construction zone.

construction. While every effort is
made to give residents advance
notice of projects, all construction
is weather dependent so changes
occur.
If you have questions about
a project, or would like to report
a problem, please contact the

into one bag and tie it shut before
placing it in the curbside cart.
Drop off locations
Retail plastic bags are also
collected at major retailers
including Target, Cub Foods,

Lawn Watering Ordinance in Effect
Lawn watering uses a significant
portion of our water supply.
It is important that residents
and businesses follow the city's
watering ordinance. This allows
Shorewood's water system not
only an adequate opportunity to
replenish the supply in the city's
water storage tanks, but also
ensures there is enough water for
all uses, some of which include
vital services such as firefighting.
The city's ordinance states that
residents and businesses can
water before 11 a.m. and after
4:30 pm, May 1- September 30.
Residents are advised to work
with their sprinkler system provider
to make sure watering times
are scheduled to water within
ordinance hours. Remember to
check the timer on your watering
system after power outages so
that you are not in violation of the
restriction.
Fees for violating the water
use restrictions are determined
by the number of water restriction
violations issued to the owner and
are as follows:
• First offense - $50 fee
• Each additional offense - $25
