Manor Park Bennis Court Complete
or years Manor Park tennis courts have
suffered from cracking and decay due to
soil conditions. After much discussion, the Park
Commission and City Council decided that an
affordable remedy forthe courts would be to install
a sport court surface to the courts. This method
has been used by other cities in the metro area
with much success.
The courts have now been resurfaced with the
sport court material and are ready for play. An
addition to the courts is striping for Pickleball, a
popular court game that is a cross between tennis
and badminton. Portable nets for Pickleball are
available through city hall. Please call the city at
952.960.7900 for information on how to arrange
pick -up of the net(s).
See the city web site for more information on
Pickleball and for pictures of the new court.
Stav Ua -To -Date on Road Construction
Road construction is weather dependent. Not
only does the city have to rely on weather for
its projects, but weather delays in other cities can
affect local construction. To get up -to -date closure
and detour information, please see the city web
site under streets. The city Facebook site also has
road closure updates.
This year, the city is working with the cities of
Excelsior and Tonka Bay to try to communicate
road closures in those cities that might affect
Shorewood residents. If you know of a closure
that should be communicated, please email the
information to jmoore @ci.shorewood.mn.us to
have it included in updates.

Recycle in Shorewood Parks
All Shorewood Parks have
recycling containers in most
public areas. The containers,
purchased through a grant from
Hennepin County, have been
placed next to most garbage
containers in Shorewood's six
parks.
The park recycling program
started two years ago in
Shorewood, and has continued
to expand. The new containers
have substantially increased the
recycling of cans and bottles in the
parks. Corrugated cardboard and
boxboard are also recycled at the
two concession stands in Freeman
Park.
Should you notice problems
with any of the park recycling
containers, please report the issue
to jmoore @ci.shorewood.mn.us,
or call 952.960.7906.
Thank you for recycling in
Shorewood public spaces!

towards reducing pollution in
rainwater runoff. This Plan will be

traffic on the roadways. Please be respectful
Shorewood's natural surroundings.
Organics Collection in Shorewood
n 2012 the city received a grant
from Hennepin County to pilot
organics collection throughout
the city. The collection consists
of interested residents signing
up for collection at a cost of $6
per month. The weekly collection
includes organic items such as
food scraps, food stained paper
products, Kleenex, napkins,
paper towels, boxboard and dirty
paper, plus numerous other items
that will turn back into dirt when
commercially composted.
Residents who have opted
to take part in the pilot have
been pleased with the service.
Residents who have expressed
interest but have not participated
in the program generally site cost
as the main factor, followed by
low household size not creating
enough organic waste.
There is still time for you
to try the service. The city is
working with two haulers to
provide the service based on
where you live in the city. If you
would like to find out the hauler
serving your neighborhood,
email your address to jmoore@
ci.shorewood.mn.us. Residents
who chose to participate in
the pilot receive a sample of
compostable bags that were
donated by GLAD.
If you have more questions
about the program, contact Julie
Moore, Recycling Coordinator, by
email or call 952.960.7906.
