a neighborhood
celebration, turn on the front porch lights, gather
with neighbors and friends, get to know one
another, catch up on things, play some games with
the kids, enjoy a few hot - off - the -grill favorites and
build a sense of community. A list of activity ideas
is available on the city web site.
Neighborhood representatives are encouraged to
registertheir Nightto Unite event, so representatives
from SLMPD and Fire Departments, as well as city
officials, can stop by to visit.
Night to Unite and similiar events have
proven to create successful neighborhood
bonding which often results in lower crime
rates. Although residents in communities
such as Shorewood often feel safe and
not threatened by crime, the types of crime
common to our area, burglary, theft, property
damage, etc., can be prevented by knowing
your neighbors and feeling comfortable
calling the police department when you notice
suspicious activity.
To register your event, please contact Dave
Hohertz at SLMPD, dhohertz @southlakepd.com,
or 952.474.3261. You may also post it on the city
Facebook page for sharing with neighbors.

gardeners usually see, especially
when the leaves and needles
of their plants are disappearing.
