Multi -City Advisory Group TaMek Esc
Southshore Center (SSC) is a building located
next to Badger Park and Shorewood City
Hall. It was originally designed to be a senior
center, but in 2009 when the City of
Shorewood took over operations
of the center from the five owner
cities, the center spread its reach
to include programs for all ages.
The center, owned by the cit-
ies of Shorewood, Excelsior,
Greenwood, Deephaven and
Tonka Bay, has had its challeng-
es. Many residents do not know
where the Southshore Center is
located, or that it has program-
ming for all ages. Although the
City of Shorewood has taken over
operations over the past few years, the owner
cities have not come to an agreement on the
financial involvement of the remaining four cities.
To tackle these and other challenges, an Advisory
Committee was established in July, 2013.
Representatives from each owner city, as well
as from Southshore Senior Partners, the senior
non - profit who runs programming and lunch-
es out of the center
for those 55 +, and a
representative from
Minnetonka High
School Business
Education program
serve on the commit-
tee. The committee
has been meeting
one to two times per
month and has put
together financial and
participation infor-
mation for each city
council to discuss and present back to the com-
mittee. The committee will use feedback from the
councils to make final suggestions for the best
way to utilize the center.

Slow Down on Area Roads
Motorists are reminded that cars share Shorewood roadways with pedestrians and bicyclists. We have many
narrow roads and few sidewalks, so please be careful, drive slowly, and give plenty of space to pedestrians
on roadways. As we enter the season of dropping temperatures drivers should be aware that there can be slippery
spots on the road surface even when it looks dry. Be prepared to stop and always give yourself plenty of distance
from cars in front of you. Council Members
