Comment Period Continues for MCC
Residents want to stay informed about the
proposed redevelopment of the Minnetonka
Country Club property at Smithtown Road
and Country Club Road. A Planning Advisory
Committee, made up of over 20 residents, meets
twice a month to get information about the proposed
project and to verbalize concerns they might see
affecting the overall community. Residents not
serving on the advisory committee are able to share
thoughts and comments and to view the materials
provided to the committee through an online site
accessible at http://minnetonkacc. mindmixer. com.

he Open Book meeting for Shorewood is
scheduled for Monday, May 4, from 5 pm - 7 pm
at City Hall. The meeting is conducted under the
authority of the Hennepin County Assessor, which
will conduct an "open- book" process for valuation
appeals. At the Open Book meeting, the county
he city is seeking a resident to serve as the
city representative for the Lake Minnetonka
Communications Commission. Meetings are
generally once per month. Residents interested
in video production, public access and cable
from other residents are able to be viewed and
as new information is received regarding the
redevelopment it will be posted on this site.
Questions that are posted on the site are
answered weekly by city staff. All residents are
encouraged to add feedback via the site so that
when actual planning of the property takes place
we will have community concerns and input to
share with the developer.
If you have questions about the process, please

Lawn watering uses a significant
portion of our water supply.
It is important that residents
and businesses follow the city's
watering ordinance. This allows
Shorewood's water system not
only an adequate opportunity to
replenish the supply in the city's
water storage tanks, but also
ensures there is enough water for
all uses, some of which include
vital services such as firefighting.

Shorewood is Bee Safe
n 2014, the City of Shorewood
became the first city in the state
to pass a resolution defining the
city "bee safe ". This resolution
means that chemicals considered
harmful to pollinators, specifically
neonicotinoids, will not be used by
the city on city owned properties,
The city is also working hard
to educate residents on the
safe use of chemicals and
encouraging property owners
to refrain from using lawn and
garden chemicals containing
neonicotinoids. A quick internet
search will answer your questions
about which chemicals are safe
for pollinators and which to avoid.
Humming For Bees, www.
hummingforbees.org, a local
organization who has been
bringing pollinator safety to
many city councils in the Twin
Cities, offers education and "Bee
Safe Yard" signs for those who
pledge to keep their yard safe
for pollinators. They also keep a
list of garden supply stores in the
Twin Cities who offer seeds and
flowers for gardens and flower
pots that have not been treated
with neonicotinoids.
Avoid or Limit Pesticides
Pesticides can kill more than
the target pest. Some pesticide
residues can kill pollinators for
several days after the pesticide
is applied. Pesticides can also kill
natural predators, which can lead
to even worse pest problems.
