SeeClickFix Service Comes to Shorewood
The city of Shorewood has partnered with
SeeClickFix that will allow residents to report
quality -of -life issues and request city services.
With the free SeeClickFix mobile app and web
tools, Shorewood residents will be able to provide
Shorewood staff with pictures, videos, specific
descriptions and more -- valuable information
needed to get the job done efficiently. In
addition, the SeeClickFix platform provides
Shorewood officials with a centralized issue
management system to manage issues
from creation to resolution -- engaging Shorewood
residents throughout the process.
This partnership not only allows Shorewood
residents to report problems, but also to view,
comment on, and vote to fix problems submitted
by their neighbors. Residents can even create their
own "watch areas" to receive notifications about
all the issues reported in the community, enabling
Utility Rate
tility rate increases are set
to begin in 2016 with the
April billing statement. Last
year, a rate study was performed
recommending regular increases
in the utility charges as the
city's costs increased. The City
Council adopted
increased
utility rates
for inclusion
with the 2016
budget plans.
These rates
are designed
to cover
them to follow the progress of all service requests,
not just the ones they report.
The SeeClickFix mobile app is available for
download on Android and iPhone. In addition to
the mobile apps, residents can send reports to
Shorewood's website and SeeClickFix.com.
See ClickFix
was founded in 2008
S
eeClickFOIX to empower citizens
with tools to publicly
document concerns
in their neighborhoods. Specific property complaints
remain confidential and will not show as a report
in the system, but can be reported through
SeeClickFix.
SeeClickFix will be officially open by April 11. If
you have any questions about the service, please
contact the city at 952.960.7900, and get ready to
engage with your community!

Sharps /Needle Collection for Residents
It's important to manage and
dispose of sharps (needles,
lancets, and syringes) safely
to prevent injury and disease
transmission from needle- sticks.
Because of the increased need to
safe disposal options, sharps from
households are now accepted at
the county's drop -off facilities in
Brooklyn Park and Bloomington.
1. Prepare needles and sharps:
• Store in a plastic, rigid,
puncture- resistant container
with a screw -on lid (no glass
containers). Examples include
empty laundry detergent bottles
with screw -on lids. You can also
purchase a sharps disposable
container from a pharmacy.
• Label the empty container, "Do
not recycle: Household sharps"
• Put used needles in the container
point- first. Note: Do not put
unused medicines contained
in sharps (epi —pens) in your
container. **
• Only fill your container half full
of needles and sharps.
• Keep the lid screwed on the
container to prevent spills.
2. Proof of residency, such as a
driver's license, is required.
Staff will guide you to the
needles and sharps drop -off
area. Your sharps must be in a
proper container, and you will
be responsible for placing your
container into the drop -off bin.
For a complete list of safe
disposal options for sharps —
including mail -in and destruction
options —see www.hennepin.

Don't Binw It!
W then doing spring yard chores, make sure you don't blow or sweep sand, grass clippings, fertilizer, etc. into
e roadway. It is illegal, but more importantly, it damages our lakes, streams and wetlands. Spring rains and
melting snow run into the stormwater system and end up in ourwaterways. Instead, sweep or blow debris into your
yard, or into a pile that you can dispose of in your trash. You may also mix sand and dirt debris into soil in an area
you will not be growing food in case of contamination from cars, pet waste, and other items.

FREE Secure
Paper Shredding
Saturday, May 21
9 am -12 prn
Shorewood City Hall, 5755 Country Club Road
Here's how it works:
• Gather up all of your old files, tax returns, bank statements and any other secure papers you may
have (newspapers and non - secure papers should be put in your recycling cart and not brought
for shredding).
• Bring the items in paper bags to the city hall parking lot (bags will be returned)
• Cones will be set up to direct you in one driveway.
• Stay in your vehicle. Volunteers will remove your paper for the shred truck.
Know what to shred:
Although opinions differ on exactly what to shred, basically know that you should shred any documents
containing signatures, account numbers, social security numbers, credit card offers, and any legal or medical
information (including tax forms, checks, pay stubs, etc.). General mail, catalogs and flyers do not need to be
shredded, and are better recycled curbside. Contact jmoore Oci. shorewood, 952.960.7906, with questions.
What you need to know:
• Event will close during lightning storms.
• You will drive your vehicle into our facility for the
process where our staff and volunteers will un-
load it for you. Witnessed destruction can happen
at that time, if so desired.
• Paper only. Please do not bring any 3 ring bind-
ers, plastics, trash or other non -paper items.
• NO PLASTIC BAGS!
• All shredded paper is baled and shipped directly
to the paper mill for recycling.
• Two shred trucks will be available to reduce
capactiy issues we had in 2015.
• We make every effort to meet the shredding
needs of residents, but if both trucks fill the event
will close prior to 12 pm.
