17-082RESOLUTION 17 -082 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING 2017 HENNEPIN COUNTY RESIDENTIAL RECYCLING GRANT WHEREAS, the City of Shorewood supports the application and the purpose of the county's residential recycling grant to provide funding to cities to increase recycling and help reach the 2030 recycling goal established by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency; and WHEREAS, the City of Shorewood is committed to the recycling grant requirements which include the following: 1) Collecting a basic list of recyclable materials 2) Using county terminology and images 3) Malting recycling information available on the city website 4) Mailing a recycling guide to residents annually 5) Supporting the county's messaging efforts by completing education and outreach activities; and WHEREAS, the City of Shorewood understands the change in the 2017 funding policy which allocates 80 percent to recycling and 20 percent to organics and therefore is committed to exploring additional organic opportunities for the community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Shorewood, Minnesota hereby accepts the 201.7 Residential Recycling Grant in the amount of $23,235 issued by the Hennepin County Environment & Energy Department.
