RESOLUTION NO. 17 - 080
ADOPTING THE PRELIMINARY 2018 GENERAL FUND
OPERATING BUDGET AND TAX LEVY
WHEREAS, City staff have presented the preliminary 2018 budget and tax levy at work
sessions in August; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the budget and tax levy and made
modifications to each that reflect desired community service levels; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is required to approve and certify the proposed 2018
preliminary levy to the Hennepin County Auditor by September 30;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SHOREWOOD AS FOLLOWS:
The 2018 Preliminary General Fund Budget is hereby set at $6,195,632.
2. $5,388,236 is to be levied for 2017 ad valorem property taxes, collectible in 2018
upon all taxable property in the City of Shorewood.
3, The Finance Director is hereby instructed to transmit a certified copy of this
resolution to the County Auditor of Hennepin County, Minnesota.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHOREWOOD this 11`x' day of

Taxing District Official:
The governing bodies of each city or county must adopt a proposed property tax levy for
taxes payable 2018 and certify that amount to the home county auditor on or before
September 29, 2017. The form(s) to certify the proposed pay 2018 levy are attached.
For municipalities that have levied for HRAs and /or EDAs in prior years, a copy of the
payable 2018 levy limit schedule is included with this mailing.
For those districts with a scheduled bonded debt levy for collection in 2018, a copy of the
bond levy schedule for your taxing jurisdiction is enclosed. If you are levying an
amount other than the scheduled amount, a board resolution to cancel the bonded
indebtedness levy is required. According to M.S. 475.61, the county is required to
levy the amount originally certified unless the taxing authority passes a resolution
canceling the levy.
