1. Project Update: The Riviera Lane, Shorewood Lane, and Mann Lane Street and
Utility Improvement Project is underway! The contractor has completed directional drilling
(trenchless) installation of the watermain along Yellowstone Trail, State Highway 7, and Lake
Linden Drive. The contractor has focused construction operations along Yellowstone Trail to
ensure the road -way is available to the traveling public for the Labor Day holiday. In addition,
private utilities, including Xcel Energy, CenturyLink, CenterPoint Energy, and Mediacom, are
relocating facilities as necessary throughout the project corridor to facilitate construction.
2. Project Contacts: Matt Havlik will be on -site daily as the Construction Observer and
can answer any questions you may have. Matt can discuss various items that may be affected
by construction such as access, existing condition of your driveway, landscape features, irriga-
tion systems, underground pet fences, mail, garbage service, construction schedule or any oth-
er concerns you may have. Matt can be reached at 612- 246 -9347. Katie Koscielak, Project
Manager, can be reached at 612- 282 -3641.
3. Construction Schedule: As construction along Yellowstone Trail is nearing comple-
tion, the contractor will begin construction operations along the various roadways. The con-
tractor will begin utility construction (including re- alignment of a portion of the sanitary sewer
main and installation of new storm sewer facilities) along Shorewood Lane this week, beginning
August 27, 2018. Following utility construction, the contractor will begin to excavate and
construct the roadway in preparation for concrete curb and gutter the first week in September,
weather permitting.
The contractor has tentatively scheduled to begin utility construction along Riviera Lane mid -
September with Mann Lane to follow.
Distribution of individual newsletters is not anticipated for this project because the infor-
mation is usually out of date due to weather conditions, or other unforeseen construction
conflicts. We ask residents to sign up for construction updates on the city website to stay up to
date on the construction schedule (see "Property Owner Responsibility" section below).
4. Property Owner Responsibility: The City of Shorewood and WSB strongly encour-
age all residents and property owners to use the City website for construction activity updates,
and to sign up for construction activity email, text, or Facebook messages. The website is locat-
ed at http: / /www.ci.shorewood.mn.us.
Residents should expect traffic delays due to the construction activities and plan their schedules
accordingly. Full -time driveway access during the working hours (7:00 am - 7:00 pm Monday —
Friday and 9:00 am — 5:00 pm Saturday) may not be available, but the contractor is required to
make accommodations for accessibility.
If you have irrigation systems or underground pet fences along the roadway. It will help the
contractor and Matt Havlik, the project on -site representative, if you mark the locations of these
systems.
If you have any landscaping items that you would like to save and reinstall yourself after con -
Alyson Fauske (763) 512 -5244 struction, please remove these items from the city right -of -way. If you are unsure whether your
City Engineer /WSB & Associates, Inc. landscaping items will be impacted by construction, please contact Matt to schedule a meeting
at your residence.

ROAD
WORK
AHEAD
4. Property Owner Responsibility (continued): If you have special needs for ac-
cess or if you have an appointment and you need to leave by a certain time and day, please let
Matt know at least a day ahead of time so he can help make arrangements for access.
If you are anticipating a special delivery, open house, or any other activity during the construc-
tion schedule, please notify Matt of the time and date this will occur. The contractor and project
staff will do their best to provide access.
5. Traffic Control: Please note that there will be signs /barricades stating the roadway is
closed to through traffic (these allow local traffic to access your property).
• Residents should not move traffic barricades. Only construction and emergency
personnel have legal authority to do this.
• Residents should stay away from any construction equipment. Do not approach any equip-
ment. If you need to ask a question, please contact Matt Havlik at the number provided.
• People in vehicles should stay a safe distance back from any large construction equipment
and dump trucks. Do not pull up right behind equipment/trucks as that may put you in the
drivers blind spot as construction equipment/trucks will frequently back up.
6. Garbage Service: Garbage service will be available on your normal schedule. If the
garbage truck doesn't have access to your home, it is the contractor's responsibility to bring the
garbage to the garbage hauler or make the street accessible. Please mark your garbage and
recycling cans with duct tape containing your address to ensure you get your can back in the
event the contractor needs to relocate them to make them accessible to the garbage hauler.
7. Mail Service: The proposed work will require mailboxes to be removed. These mailbox-
es will be delivered to each property owner for safe keeping. Temporary mailbox facilities will be
placed in a location coordinated with the US Postal Service. Your address will be labeled on it.
At the conclusion of that work, the contractor will reinstall the original mailboxes.
Delivery to temporary mail box locations will be communicated through a doorhanger once the
temporary mailboxes are in place. The doorhanger will identify the date you begin to pick up
your mail at the temporary location.
8. Driveways: Each driveway will be impacted by the proposed construction and will be
replaced with the same surface type for only that portion impacted by the project. Homeowners
who are considering hiring their own contractor to replace their entire driveway, please contact
Matt Havlik to coordinate the work.
Thank you for your patience! The project team will do its best to complete the project
in a timely fashion and minimize disturbances to your property. Please be patient and if you
have questions, call us!
