Tree and brush removal after storms TThe wind storm earlier this week is a reminder that we have entered this year's storm season. Following more significant storms a couple of years ago, the City Council adopted a response policy for more significant events. The policy is on the city website under "City Document Library ". Unless an emergency is declared by the City Council, it is the property owner's responsibility to remove and dispose of storm - damaged trees and brush from their property ,4ff nr n cfnr- • Contact more than one service to obtain a cost estimate for the removal. Tree service contractors are required to be licensed by the city and a list is available on the city's website. • Make sure the contractor has a certificate of insurance showing liability coverage, coverage for property damage, and worker's compensation. • Clearly define what you expect the contractor to do. • Contact your hauler to determine if they will pick up trees or brush and what amount is permitted along with any special arrangements for pick up. • If you are not sure if an emergency has been declared, check the city's website or call city hall at (952) 960 -7900. Summer sealcoating of roads approved Sealcoating roads is a method used in Shorewood to maintain the roadway surface. The road is covered with oil, followed by rock. The rock is left for several days, allowing cars to drive over the roadway before being swept by street sweepers. Residents are notified prior to the roadwork and are asked not to use sprinkler systems that hit the roadways prior to the coating. The roadway must be dry for the oil to adhere properly. A final schedule has not been published, but will be on the city website under streets when available.
