Re: Mill Street- Proposed change to on- street parking
Dear Resident,
This letter is to notify residents along Mill Street about the pavement markings that will be installed and
seek input with regards to potential changes to on- street parking.
Hennepin County will be resurfacing Mill Street Within the next few weeks. This is a pavement
maintenance project, therefore additional work such as installation of a trail or sidewalk is not within
the project scope. After paving is complete, the pavement will be striped, including a striped shoulder
between 6.5 and 9.5 feet wide. The intent is to provide an on- street corridor for non - vehicular traffic
until such time when an off - street trail or sidewalk is constructed.
To keep the shoulder clear of parked vehicles the city council would need to approve a "No Parking
ordinance for Mill Street. Before taking the matter to a city council meeting for consideration, staff .
would like your feedback with regards to staff's proposal for no parking ,along Mill Street. If you are so
inclined, please submit your comments to me via email at cityen iii;eer(e?civ horowcad:mn use or calY
952.960.7910, by 5 pm on Tuesday, August 28. The item is tentatively scheduled for the September 10,
2018 city council meeting; any comments received for or against the no parking resolution will be
forwarded to the council for their consideration.
Regards,
