Keep your snow to yourself
he snow this winter has homeowners trying to
figure out where they can put the next pile. One
place you cannot put it is across the street. Even if
snow is not left on the road, it is against Minnesota
state law to move snow across the roadway. The
dragging of plows or snowblowers across the road
leaves ridges that form ice and cause hazards to
drivers and to city plows. Snow blowing into the
street is also illegal.
Please make sure any snow removal contractors
that service your property are aware of the
state law. The offense is a misdemeanor and is
enforceable by South Lake Minnetonka Police
Department. Please call the city at 952.960.7900
if you have questions.
