Quarterly monitoring for radiochemicals is being conducted on your water system to determine if your system meets the maximum contaminant level (MCL) for gross alpha and combined radium 226 +228. Samples will be collected quarterly and the test results will be averaged. If the annual average of results from the CD 1 (Amesbury #1 & #6) entry point exceeds the MCL for either of these contaminants, you will be required to notify the public that the MCL was exceeded and take corrective action. The following is a summary of the results: Sampling Site: CD 1 (Amesbury #1 & #6) Contaminant: Combined Radium ( -226 & -228) MCL: Annual Average >5.4 pCi /L Date Collected Results 05/1012019 6.60 03128/2019 4.60 10/30/2018 4.10 06/05/2018 5.20 Units Sam le# pCi /L 19EO825 -01 pCi /L 19C1246 -01 pCi /L 18J1522 -01 pCi /L 18F0440 -02 Contaminant: Gross Alpha in Water MCL: Annual Average >15.4 pCi /L Date Collected Results Units Sample# 05/10/2019 5.90 pCi /L 19E0825 -01 03%28/2019 7.10 pCi /L 19C1246 -01 10/30/2018 5.90 pCi /L 18J1522 -01 06/05/2018 5.20 pCi /L 1850440 -02 A yr r ,pa ^rY a por°PunE e pN e rinp ^pov rr Annual Average. 5.1 4.6 4.7 5.2 Annual Average 6.3 7.1 7.2 5.2 Shorewood City Council Page 2 September 24, 2019 PWSID 1270051 All required radiochemical samples will be collected and analyzed by the Minnesota Department of Health. We will notify you if any action is required by your system. Gross alpha and radium 226 +228 are naturally occurring contaminants that are found in groundwater throughout central and southern Minnesota. Long -term elevated levels of exposure to these contaminants may result in an increased risk of cancer. This report should be placed in your records and a copy maintained on or near the water system premises and available for public inspection for not less than ten (10) years. If you have any questions, contact Cindy Swanson at 651/201 -4656 or email cind .swanson state.mn.us. Sincerely, Karla R.
