01 January Shore ReportPhil Zumsteg Morning Frosty We, Join a Shorewood Commission Planning Commission The Planning Commission serves as an advisory commission to the City Council on planning and development issues. The Planning Commission meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. A tentative second meeting is scheduled for the third Tuesday as needed. City Council Approve At its regular meeting on December 14, 2020, the city council adopted the final 2021 General Fund budget and the 2021 property tax levy. The city's 2021 adopted property tax levy of $5,973,743 is 2.0% higher than the 2020 total levy of$5,856,611. However, the city's payable 2021 tax rate is projected to decrease by 4.7%. This means that property owners with no change in market values from payable 2020 to payable 2021 should experience an approximate 4.7% decrease in the city portion of their overall property tax bill. The Park Commission meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month. This year, the City of Shorewood invites you to make a Sustainable New Year's Resolution! We've put together a list of ten specific and easy actions anyone can take. If you sign up for at least ONE resolution during January, you will receive a free "Sustainable Resolution Toolkit" with information, tips, and tools to help you get started and follow through on your specific resolution. Paula is an attorney in private practice and the owner of Callies Law, PLLC. She was previously on the Shorewood City Council 2005- 2008 and has been a member of the Planning Commission and Shorewood Parks Foundation. AU6 Patrick Johnson Re-elected to Council atrick and his family are proud to call Shorewood home. They relocated from New York City in 2012 where he was on the board of a parks conservancy which fostered the building a park along the Hudson River. Through this volunteer work he discovered the enjoyment of board service. After relocating and looking for a similar position, Patrick joined the Shorewood Planning Commission where the first project was overseeing Planned Unit Development of the Minnetonka Country Club. In 2016, Patrick was elected to the Shorewood City Council and has been honored to serve the community. "I am proud of the work council has done over the past 4 years to carefully refine our Capital Improvement Plan to tackle some of the city's largest issue, drainage and road conditions." Outside of council, he works as a marketing director for a "Big 4" accounting firm and serves as a volunteer ski instructor at the Blizzard ski school. During winter you will find Patrick on the ski slopes and in the summer, sailboat racing out of Wayzata Yacht Club.
