KEEPING OF DOGS IN THE CITY OF SHOREWOOD.
The City Council of the City of Shorewood ordains:
Section 1: That Ordinance No. 81 be' amended by adding paragraph (d) to
Section III - Licensing Required -
(d) Any person who moves into and becomes are sident of the City of Shorewood
and who owns a dog within the City of Shorewood shall cause the same to be
registered and licensed as provided hereinbefore within a period of not more than
thirty (30) days after becoming a resident of this City.
Section 2: This Ordinance shall be effective from and after its passage and
publication. -

FRANCHISE: PROVIDING FOR CITY REGULATION OF THE WATER
SYSTEM: PROVIDING AN OPTION FOR TAKE -OVER BY THE CITY OF
SHOREWOOD AND PRESCRIBING PENALITES FOR THE
VIOLATION OF ITS PROVISIONS.
The City Council of the City of Shorewood ordains:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 169 is hereby repealed in its entirety.
Section 2: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its

THE USE OF LAND, THE LOCATION, AREA, SIZE, USE AND HEIGHT OF
BUILDINGS ON LOTS, AND THE DENSITY OF POPULATION IN THE CITY
OF SHOREWOOD, MINNESOTA:
The City Council of the city of Shorewood, Minnesota does ordain:
Section 1: That Ordinance No. 168, Section 200.03, Subd Ile (4) is hereby
amended to include: -
"For PUDs containing twenty (20) acres of more of land, the City may allow
larger construction signs than those allowed in h (1) (1) of this subdivision. In
determining the size and allowable area of signs in a PUD, the city shall take into
consideration the functional classification and designated speed limit of adjacent
roads, and potential impact on adjoining residential areas. In no case shall the
total allowable area of construction signs exceed three (3) square feet for each
acre of land within the PUD. The total area of said sign shall not exceed three
hundred (300) square feet nor shall any individual sign exceed two hundred (200)
square feet in area" -
Section 2. That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and
publication according to law.

On May 1985. the Shorewood City Council adopted Ordinance No. 168, entitlek.
Shorewood Zoning Ordinance. On June 24, 1985 the Shorewood City Council
adopted this Official Summary of the Ordinance.
Ordinance No. 168 is an interim Ordinance which serves as a comprehensive
revision to Ordinance. No. 77 as amended It is the intent of the City Council to
enforce this Ordinance for period of six months pending further study of s everal.

will either be adopted as written, or modified based upon conclusions of studies
conducted by the Planning Commission and City Council With the adoption of
this Ordinance, Ordinance No. 77, as amended, is hereby repealed..
The purpose of Ordinance No. 188 is to protect the public health, safety and
general welfare of the community and its people through the establishment of
m1n.mum regulations governing development and use of land within the City of
Shorewood This Ordinance shall divide the City into various land use districts
and establish regulations pertaining to location, erection, construction, recon-
struction, alterations, and use of structures and use ofland. These regulations are
established to promote orderly development and redevelopment; to provide
adequate light, air and convenience of access to property; to prevent congestion in
the public right -of -way; to prevent overcrowding of land and undue concentration
of structures by regulating land, buildings, yards and density of population; to
provide for compatibility of differentland uses; to provide for the administration
of the Ordinance; to provide for amendments; to prescribe penalties for violation
of such regulations and to define powers and duties of the City staff, the Board of
Adjustment and Appeals, the Planning Commission and the City Council in
relation to the Zoning Ordinance.
The City is divided into land use districts, the boundaries of whichare shown on
the Zoning Map published as part ofthis summary.. Districts are identified on the

The Ordinance contains rules and procedures for amending the Ordinance and
granting variances and conditional use permits. An appeal process is also
established for instances where it is alleged that an error has been made in the
enforcement of the Ordinance.. Public herrings relative to amendments, var-
iances, conditional use permits and appeals are required pursuant to statutory
requirements.
The Ordinance provides for the enforcement of zoning regulations by allowing
for the designation of a Zoning Administrator and specifying penalties for the
violation of the Ordinance.

offices located at 5755 Country Club Road during regular office hours.

exempted by special permit as fol-

secure from the Director of Public
Works a certificate setting forth the
route or routes and the conditions
under which such vehicle or combi-
nation of vehicles may be operated
and such vehicle or combination of
vehicles shall thereafter be so opera-
ted in accordance with the terms of
such certificate.
b. The Director of Public Works is
hereby empowered and it is hereby
made hsi duty to - issue or deny, or
issue in modified form "such certifi-
cates upon application and to pre-
scribe therein the route or routes and
the conditions for operation under
each such certificate, and in deter
mining such route or routes as such
conditions, the Director of Public
Works shall permit maximum use of
the particular highways and bridges
consistent with the maximum capa-
city of such highways or bridges, as
determined with highway engineer-
ing practice.

shall have the power to revoke or
modifythe terms of any existing Cer
tificate at any time in the event of
operations in violation of any such
certificate or in the event of changed
conditions requiring such action. The
original or correct copy of the certi-
ficate under which operations are
being conducted shall be carried at all
times in the driver's cab or in any
vehicle or combination of vehicles
while the same is being operated
thereunder.
SECTION 5: Any person who shall
violate any of this Ordi-
nance shall be guilty of a misde-
meanor and upon conviction thereof
shall be punished as to fine by State
Law.
SECTION 6: This Ordinance shall
be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and publication ac-
cording to law.

ORDINANCE NO. 162
AN ORDINANCE
REGULATING THE
MANUFACTURE, USE AND
SALE OF CONTROLLED
SUBSTANCES IN THE CITY,
OF SHOREWOOD AND
PROVIDING A. PENALTY FOR
VIOLATION THEREOF
The City of Shorewood ordains;
SECTION 1: Generale The sale
and possession of controlled sub-
stances and glue shall be regu-
lated as hereinafter set forth
SECTION 2. Definitions.
A. "Controlled substance "•
means a drug substance, or ink.

Section 152.02. The term shall not
include distilled spirits, wine,
malt beverages, intoxicating
liquors or tobacco.
B. "Deliver" means sell, offer
for sale, barter, exchange, admin-
ister, dispense, give away, dis-
tribute or supply in any other
manner. The term delivery as
herein defined shall include the
attempt to do such acts as well as
actual completed commission
thereof.
C. "Patient" means
a. the individual forwhom a
controlled substance is prescrib-
ed or to whom a controlled sub.
stance is administered, or
b. the owner or the agent of
the owner of any animal forwhich
a controlled substance is pre-
scribed or to which a controlled
substance is administered
D. "Person" includes every
individual, corporation, partner
ship and association of one or
more individuals.
E. "Practitioner" means a
person licensed by law to pre-
scribe and administer any of the
controlled substances as defined
above.
F. "Pharmacist' means a
person duly licensed and regis-
tered with the Minnesota State
Board of Pharmacy as a register

G. "Prescription" means a
written or oral order by a prac-
titioner to a pharmacist for a con-
trolled substance for a particular
patient, which specifies the date
of its issue, the name and address
of such practitioner, the name of
the patient (and, if such control-
led substance is prescribed for
an animal, the species of such
animal), the name and quantity of
the controlled substance pre-
scribed, and in the case of a writ-
ten order, the signature of such
practitioner. An oral order by a

SECTION 3. Prohibited Acts
A. Except as otherwise pro-
vided in this section, or by state
law it shall be unlawfyl for any
person to
a. manufacture, sell give
away, barter, deliver, exchange
or distribute; or possess with in-
tent to manufacture, sell, give
away, barter, deliver, exchange
or distribute, a controlled sub-
stance
b. possess a controlled
substance, except when such
possession is for one's own use
and is authorized by law.
B. It shall be unlawful for any
person to procure, attempt to pro-
cure, possess or have in his con-
trol a controlled substance by any
of the following means:
a. fraud, deceit, misrepres-
entation or subterfuge;
b. using a false name, or
giving a false address or false
credit;
c. concealing a material
fact;
d forgering or altering a
prescription;
e. making a false statement
in any prescription, order, report
or record relative to a controlled
substance;
f making issuing or utter
ing any false or forged prescrip-
tion;
g. falsely assuming the title
of, or falsely representing any
person to be, a manufacturer,
wholesaler, warehouseman,
pharmacist, physician, doctor of
osteopathy licensed to practice
medicine, dentist, podiatrist, vet -
erinarian or other authorized per
son for the purpose of obtaining a
controlling substance.
SECTION 4. Exceptions. Sec-
tion 3 of this ordinance shall not
apply to the following in the or-
dinary course of their trade, busi-
ness or profession provided;
however, this exception shall not
be a defense to the doing of acts
prohibited in Section 3 hereof:
A. Practitioners;
B. Pharmacists;
C. Manufacturers;
D. Pharmacists as manufac-
turers; -
E. Wholesalers;
F. Warehouseman;
G. Persons engaged in trans-
porting such controlled substan-
ces as agent or employee of a

facturer, warehouseman, whole-
saler, or common carrier,
H. Any patient as herein de.

SECTION 5: Inhaling Breath-
ing Drinking of Certain Substan-
ces Prohibited No person shall
intentionally inhale, breathe or

monly known as glue, adhesive,
sement, mucilage, dope, sol-
vents, lacquer, drugs, fingernail
polish and lacquer, nail polish
remover, or thinners for the a.

substance containing toluol,
hexane, tricholorethylene, ace-
tone, tolunene, ethyl acetate,
methyl ethyl ketone, trichoroa-
thane, isopropanol, methyl iso-
butyl keton, methyl callosolve
acetate, cyclohexanone, or any
other substance which contains
ketone, aldehydes, organic ace-
tates, ether, chloinated hydro-
carbons, or any other similar in-
gredient which releases toxic
vapors for the purposes of induc-
ing symptoms of intoxication,
elation, excitement, confusion,
dizziness, paralysis, irrational
behavior or in any manner
change, distort or disturb the bal-
ance, corrdination or the audio,
visual or mental processes.
SECTION 6: Purchase, Sale or
Possession Regulated No per-
son shall, for the purpose of vio-
lating or aiding another to violate
any provision of this ordinance,
intentionally possess, buy, sell,
transfer possession or receive
possession of any glue containing
the intoxicating substances de-
fined in Section 6.
SECTION 7: Self - Service Dis-
play Prohibited Retail establish-
ments selling glue containing the
intoxicating substances defined
in Section 6 shall not sell such
glue from a self - service display.
SECTION 8: Confiscation and
Disposition of Prohibited Drugs.,
Any controlled substances or
glue found in the possession of
any person convicted of a viol
tion of this ordinance s�alf be
confiscated and shall be forfeited
to the Chief of Police who may
make use of said items for police
purpose, keeping documentation
of said use and eventually shall
make proper and timely disposi-
tion thereof by destroying them
SECTION 9- Penalty. Any per
son, firm or corporation who vio-
lates this ordinance is guilty of a
misdemeanor and may be pun-
ishable by a fine orimprisonment
or both as provided for by statute.
SECTION 10: This ordinance
shall be effective from and after
its passage of publication ac-
cording to law.
