Work Session
The Park Commission serves as an advisory board to the City Council. The Park
Commission consists of five appointed members including a chair and co-chair. The
terms for commission members, which are staggered, run for three (3) years
commencing on March first of each year. The council interviews interested candidates
for the commission seats including interested present commissioners whose terms are
about to expire.
A vacancy was created due to Park Commissioner Stephany Vassar’s recent
resignation. The term will expire in February of 2022. Staff has actively recruited
interested candidates for the vacancy and the City Council will conduct interviews at the
August 24 work session. David Garske was interviewed in February of this year for an
open seat on the Park Commission but due to the number of interested candidates was
not appointed. In speaking with David, he is still very interested in the open seat on the
Park Commission.
