ADJOURN 2 MEETING TYPE WORKSESSION City of Shorewood Council Meeting Item Title/Subject: Introduction of Iworq’s Permit Management Service Meeting Date: March 22, 2021 Prepared By: Marie Darling, Planning Director Reviewed By: Greg Lerud, City Administrator Also refer to Item 7D on the Regular Meeting Agenda Background: Iworq is a company that provides cloud-based software applications to manage the building and code enforcement process from application through permit issuance or compliance. As the system is cloud-based, it allows the inspectors access from a tablet or smart phone while they are in the field and it also allows contractors the same cloud-based access to apply for permits, track where the permit is in the process, and schedule inspections. They will not have to submit permits on paper unless they choose to do so and can request permits 24/7, making their workdays more efficient. On the City’s side of permit management, the service will streamline application, issuance, administration, and storage of building permits. Staff anticipates a significant positive impact on the amount of time we spend administering, processing and storing permits and inspection records. Staff has included an item in the regular meeting for entering into a service agreement for this software. Prior to making a decision, staff requested Iworq representatives give a short presentation of the permitting software during the work session and give the Council an opportunity on to ask questions. Mission Statement: The City of Shorewood is committed to providing residents quality public services, a healthy environment, a variety of attractive amenities, a sustainable tax base, and sound financial management through effective, efficient, and visionary leadership.
