2021 PARK TOURS
The Shorewood Park Commission has set aside two days for
touring the parks. The first tour is scheduled for:
May 11, 2021
Meet at Freeman Park Eddy Station at 6:00 p.m.
Tours Start at 6:15 p.m.

Freeman Park:
Ballfield washout – needs to be addressed – This has been completed
Talk to applicator regarding spraying around community gardens
Building near men’s bathroom starting to wash away and one of the gutters
is dumping water right down the side of the building
Fencing around the ballfields needs to be addressed
Cathcart Park:
Chains on basketball hoops need to be replaced
Tree branches hanging over the court on the south end of the basketball
court
Plastic edging around swing set needs to be fixed
Gaga ball pit – Maybe an Eagle Scout project – Added to Eagle Scout List
Layout of playground and possibly joining it together – Made note for when
PK Comm look at updating playground
Weeds in playground area
Badger Park:
Free library needs to be repaired – glass is out
Possible erosion issue on the path behind the lacrosse field – This is being
repaired
Silverwood Park:
Bare metal on some of the playground equipment – Equipment being
replaced
Retaining blocks starting to shift
Big slide – suggested putting some playground mulch at the end – Being
replaced
Railings to the big slide are in rough shape and in some placed rotted away
and need to be fixed – Being replaced
Port-a-potty – put up bollards to prevent trucks driving on court(this was
mentioned at last year’s tours)
2-3 dead trees along the pond area that should be removed
Manor Park:
Expressed concerns about the parking lot layout and confusion on where to
park

Home plate, 2 base and 3 base are sticking way out of the ground
Suggested putting a sign up at the tennis courts warning people that the
surface can be slick, especially if wet
South Shore Community Park:
Look into planting a couple trees between the entrance and highway 7
Check to see if expansion of community garden is needed – Expanding
Spring 2021
Christmas Lake Boat Access:
Ongoing issue with the operating system for the gate
