MINUTES
1. CONVENE PARKS SUMMIT MEETING
Acting Chair Edmondson convened the meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Excelsior: Paul Mullenbach, Mike Filippi, Tom Wolfe
Shorewood: Brad Nielsen, Twila Grout, Justin Mangold, Bob Edmondson, John
Sawtell, Steve Quinlan, Steve Dietz
Tonka Bay: Elli Ansari, Clare Link
2. DRAFT MINUTES OF AUGUST 10, 2013
Motion by Mangold and second by Mullenbach to approve the meeting minutes of
August 20, 2013. Motion carried.
Motion by Mullenbach and second by Mangold to approve the agenda for the
November 19, 2013 meeting as presented. Motion carried.
3. SOUTH LAKE AREA PARK MAP
Members reviewed the park map as shown. A minor correction was suggested for the
outline of Old Orchard Park in Tonka Bay. Nielsen noted park amenities will be added to
a list. Fishing piers will be added to the map. It was noted Crescent Beach is in the
wrong location. Gideon Glen will be added to the map.
4. UPCOMING EVENTS
Members identified upcoming events. The major event is Arctic Fever in January. Other
events were also discussed. Wolfe discussed Excelsior’s discussion about putting a rink
out on the lake and associated problems. Quinlan noted snow sculptures will be a part of
Arctic Fever again. Wolfe stated Excelsior’s Concerts in the Park will be bigger and
better in 2014, and they are looking for more support from the other cities. Concerts will
be held every three weeks beginning in May. They are also looking for suggestions for
bands.
5. WEBSITE
Explore Lake Minnetonka has a presence on Shorewood and Tonka Bay’s websites.
Members discussed social media and other ways to get the word out about events.
6. OTHER BUSINESS
Edmondson discussed recent news about the possible creation of a designated scenic
byway around Lake Minnetonka.

Wolfe suggested a South Lake Minnetonka Parks committee be a permanent group.
7. ADJOURN
The Park Summit Meeting of November 19, 2013 was adjourned at 7:30 p.m. Motion carried.
