This phase of the plan also includes removing the warming house and storage shed. The proposed parking lot reconstruction would include three fewer parking spaces due to requirements of handicapped access lanes in three areas. The plans also show a rain garden/infiltration basin between the central parking area and the sidewalks that will function both to increase storm water infiltration on-site and to provide a buffer between parked vehicles and pedestrians. The plans are at 70 percent completion, meaning that not all aspects of the design are complete. Staff is continuing to work on some details, including:  Small clean-ups on the plan, for example, revising the sidewalk width to six feet instead of the 10 feet shown  Reviewing alternatives for slope stabilization on the north side of the parking lot where the slopes are steep  Relocating the electrical service needed for the field lights Staff are also considering whether this may be an advantageous time to complete pond maintenance (to be paid for from the stormwater utility fund, not the Badger Park budget). The Parks Commission and City Council may also wish to consider either a mill-and-overlay or seal coating for the existing parking lot to provide a consistent aesthetic surface. Staff Recommendation: Staff finds that the proposed plans are consistent with the concept, even with the slight reduction in parking spaces. Timeline/Next Steps: Subject to a favorable recommendation from the Parks Commission, the plan would be to forward the project to the City Council on their July 10, 2017 meeting.
