APPROVING BADGER PARK DEED RESTRICTION REQUIREMENTS
FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES OUTDOOR
RECREATION GRANT
WHEREAS, the City of Shorewood ( "City ") was awarded an Outdoor Recreational Grant
sponsored through the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources ( "DNR "); and
WHEREAS, Badger Park is legally described as:
Lot 12, Block 2 in Echo Hills 2nd Addition, except that part of the east 28 feet thereof,
lying south of the westerly extension of the northerly line of Lot 2 ,Block 1, Echo Hills,
according to the plats thereof on file or of record in the Office of the Register of Deeds in
and for said Hennepin County.
WHEREAS, the grant agreement requires that the City record specific language with the deed
for land within Badger Park to restrict future uses of the property.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SHOREWOOD, MINNESOTA, that in order to comply with the Department of Natural
Resources Outdoor Recreation Project Contract LW27- 01420, the City of Shorewood does
hereby impose the following restrictions on the property described in Attachment C to that
contract:
1. The property shall be permanently managed and maintained for public outdoor
recreation use.
2. The City shall not at any time convert any portion of the park area to uses other than
public outdoor recreation use without the prior written approval of the State of Minnesota
acting through its Commissioner of Natural Resources.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHOREWOOD this 15th day of
October, 2019.
