The last regular monthly meeting of the Shorewood Village Council was held at the
l~Li.nnewashta School on December 9, 1958 at 7,30 P.M. with full attendance of the
Council.
The mimutes of the last two meetings of Nove~aber 11th and the special meeting of
November 17, 1958 were approved a~ read.
A resolution, giving permission to Dan Phillips to divide Tot 8b, Aud. Sub. 135,
in S.E. lf~. of Sect. 3~. into two Lots, approxa~nately 31.,000 sq. ft. each was passed
unanizzlously, as previously recommended by the Planning Commission. He proposes to
build a X18,000 single house on Tot no. l and a 22,000 double house on the second
lot.
Councilman Adon~eit gave a report on our insurance coverage ors the property awned by
the village and w~.s authorized to award the coverage as recommended to the lowest
bidder at his discretion.
Agreed to have NT~.nnetonka State Bank renew those public official bonds that expired
for the same amounts as in the past.
Stephen Palmer, of Woodside g~.ve a summary of progress made towards establishing a
public skating rink on Take I~Ia.nnetorlka between the Sherman and W®odsr residences
at Woodside. The Council agreed to plow that areas along Frith the four other rinks
previously agreed upon.
Approval was given c: the road department to purchase a different type of blade at an
additional cost of about X85.00 over o the insurance claim collected on the blade that
had been stolen.
At the request of day Tatterner of Minnetonka Gun Club and Ronald Amundson, the
pxeospective purchaser of the property, to rezone the property to light industra_al,
the council agreed to hold a public hearing as soon as legally possible, to be notified
of such meeting by the clerk.
The council unanimously ~assed a resolution recommending the establishment of a
I~linnetonka Watershed District, with the restrictions as stated in the letter of trans-~
mittal presented by the coma.ttee of the Teague of Take Minnetonka Municipalities;
also, the Village of Shorewood, recommends that o_n~.y municipalities directly and
physically benefited by any sewer disposal project, be assessed or taxed for said
project.
Councilman Janvrin agreed to contact the Shady Island lproveznent Association as to
any possibility of obtaining the land owned by the association for village park
purposes.

Minnetonka Gun Club
A special meeting of the pillage Council of Shorewood was held an ~7ecember 29, 195
at $ p.m. at the Minnewashta School far the plxrpose of a public hearing an a request

to light industrial for the purpose of a Woodworking shag. Nance of hearing

Mayor Badger, Councilmen Janvrin and Arehart and Clerk Wiltsey were present, with
Councilman Adomeit absent. `There were approxil~lately thirty (3d} people present
at the meeting. The letter of proposal to the caunci~.fr~m James Palmer and Ronald
Amundson, the prospective purchasers of the property was reayl,(an file} stating
the immediate plans for the property. of those residents in the surrounding area,
Nir. Roger Clds, Mr. Hess and Norman Bergen openly opposed the rezoning an the
grounds
1. it would devaluate their property
2. by zoning one piece at a time the commercial area would gradually
creep up to their homes.
3. this action constitutes spot zoning
~• there should be a definite plan for the village before any further
rezoning of property.
Mr. Wm. ~Sartin and Ray Walker of Christmas 7,ake also expressed apposition an the
general principle of being apposed to ttspot zaning~t.
Mayor Badger then informed the people that at our last council meeting a resolution
had been passed giving the planning commission the authority to proceed with the
possibility of hiring a planner far the purpose of future zoning far the Village,
assuming that such a plan can be obtained for given amount of money, within the
budget of Shorewood.
The planning Carmllissionts recommendation was then read - rejecting the request by
five (5} against, one yea (l} and one {1} abstain.
Caun;~cilman Janvrin moved that we follow the recommendation mf~the plaxln.ing
commission by rejecting the request far rezoning the I~Linnetonka Gun Club Property.
Seconded by Councilman ~irehart and carrleed by a ~ to G vote.
As previously recommended by the Planning Commission, the council unanimously
approved a request from Richard R. Pierce of NLiznnetonka Manor, to replat Rots 1,
2, 3, and t{., of Black 9, Aud. Sub. 1t~.1, ZuIi.nnetonka Manor, N. 1/2 of Section 2,b,
into three (3} lots, thereby increasing ~Zhe lot size.
~.. was passed by the Council giving the clerk the authority to dispose of
all these records 1C3 years old and older; but to retain all records pertaining to
births, deaths, financial statement, minutes and any ether reaords that might have
statistical or .historical value,
