The meeting was called as aa public hearing at the request of the attorney for Anson M to rezone his property from residential to commercial. The report of a meeting of the Shorewood Planning Commission held on September 21, 1961, indicated that the Planning Commission had heard all persons Nho wished to be heard on the matter and after deliberation recommended to the Council by a 5 to 1 vote, that the request for commercial zoning of the hate Property be denied. The large majority of those present at the Council meeting objected to the 0 granting of this license - as one expresaed "It is merely a step#nZ stone for rezoning at a later date for further expansion." Most of the protests registered, were from residents of the Timber Lane area and Excelsior. Since our Attorney questioned the Councilts right legally, of granting this permit under our existing ordinance, it was moved by Trustee Janvrin and seconded by Trustee Freyermuth to table the matter for further study until the October meeting, after our attorney has a chance to study further and give us an offices l opinion. Passed unanimously. Since the matter directly involves Excelsior residents as well, it was suggested that the Welsior Council, be given the opportunity to express their feeling on the matter. The 1962 budget was adopted by a unanimous vote of the council for submission to the county auditor as follows: WFARE FUUD - SAO PARK FUND - 4,000 G ,11 Fund ® a3 m i 37 14 TOTAL 73,140 to (Detailed Budget on file) be levied as General Property Taxes.
