Hockey Rinks New heaters have been purchased for Cathcart and Badger warming houses. they will be installed within the next week. Badger is ready for both hockey and skating.. Maintaining 5 skating areas this year as opposed to two rinks in pre- vious years has presented some labor difficulties. Scheduling time and manpower has to be reorganized. Several questions were asked: Is it 13ossible to use volunteer labor more regularly? Can a group of volunteers be established and built up? Can communication be improved to increase public awareness of time and efforts involved? Trails John Breckheimer presented his tentative map of proposed trails that will be presented at the Joint Trails Commission meeting. The purpose of the proposal is to coordinate trails with adjoining villages - -- funding will come from each village. It is up to each council to support the trails within their own village and make them a reality. Funding for trails was discussed. The concept of a "dike Marathon" or "Trais for Tonka" could be attempted in our village. Sale of Bike Licenses is another possibility for funding trails. Revenue Sharing; could also be used with the consent of the Council. - New Business Bill Keeler proposed the use of vending machines in the rink warm- ing houses. They would be installed, operated only when attendants are there. Machines would be purchased rather than leased. Within a two year period, it is conceivable that the machines would be producing { - 3,000 (8)_ - -or cover the cost of maintaining the beaches and warming house attendants.' motion that we explore the possibilities of using vending machines in the warming houses of existing rinks. passed unanimously. BillKeeler will pursue the investigation.
