MINUTES
1b The meeting of the Shorewood Park Commission was called to order by
Chairman John Breckheimer at Manor Park at 7:45 PM, August 7, 1978.
ROLL CALL
Present were: John Breckheimer Don Goettelman
Gordon Lindstrom and guest - Bob Nygaard
LETTER OF COMMENDATION FOR JUDY McCUSKEY
Council agreed that a letter of commendation be presented to Judy
McCuskey for her service with the Park Commission. John Breckheimer
will draft the letter and present it to the Mayor for his signature.
BIKE TRAIL
The Park Commission's concern that the bike trail start from Hwy
19 to Eureka Road was presented to the Council.
MINNETONKA LAKESHORE ACCESS FOR SHOREWOOD RESIDENTS
A survey of existing accesses shows that there are currently 159 unre-
stricted parking spaces available and 29 restricted parking spaces
available; none of which are convenient for Shorewood Residents.
Further research of this problem will be pursued.
CATHCART RECREATIONAL BUILDING AND PARK
Two quotations for the plumbing work on the building have been re-
ceived. Masonry quotations have not been received; further contact
with masonry firms will be required. The volunteer.electrician has
not applied for approval from the Union to procede at this point but
will when the basic structure has been started. It is anticipated
this will be no problem.
The proposed layout of the field was discussed and it was felt that
better use of the grounds could be made by moving the backstop to the
SE corner of the park. Gordy Lindstrom will research this possibility
for presentation to the Council.
MANOR PARK
A tour of the property adjacent to Manor Park was conducted by John
Breckheimer. If and when this property becomes available, Shorewood
should make an effort to obtain it as it would greatly enhance the
Manor Parks recreational capabilities.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 8:45 PM; the next meeting will be at Badger
Park at 7:30 PM - August 21 1978.
