082878 PK MIN• MINUTES SHOREWOOD PARK COMMISSION MEETING — August 28, 1978 A short meeting of the Park Commission was called to order by Chairman John Breckheimer at the Minnewashta Elementary School at 7:00 PM, August 28, 1978 prior to the meeting of the Council, as a refresher of topics to present to the Council. • Present were: John Breckheimer Roger Stein and Councilman Bill Keeler CATHCART PARK Gordon Lindstrom Conrad Schmidt The advantage of changing the location of the ball diamond to the Southeast corner was discussed so the diamond could be used for both Little League and softball. Some land fill will be required for this project and possibly a row of young trees removed and transplanted. This was presented to the Council for further study. Plans for the new Cathcart building were brought out at both the Commission and Council meetings. Two contractors have said no to quotes. A third contractor has quoted $15,500 for footings, the main slab, and block work. Per requirements of HUD, each unit of the buildings footing, blockwork, plumbing, roof, electrical, etc., must be $10,000 or less to avoid advertising for sealed bids. An attempt will be made to iron out some of these changes by Elsa Wiltsey, Bill Keeler and John Breckheimer. Other matters presented to the Council were: 1. The moving of the Badger Park building. 2. The screening, by fence or whatever, of the maintenance building and its works. 3. The possible change of locations of the sand pile and the removal of the orange steel frames. The Council was very receptive to all of the items presented. The next Park Commission meeting will be held at 7:30 P.M. at the Minnewashta Elementary School on September 18, 1978. Respectfully submitted, John Breckheimer
