Minutes
Members Present: Chairman Don Goettelman, Gordon Lindstrom, Roger Stein
and Councilman Keeler.
Guest: Jim Heiland
Members Absent: Conrad Schmid and Bob Nygaard
Meeting called to order at 7:40 P.M.
Moved by Lindstrom, second by Stein to approve the January 21, 1980
minutes as submitted. Motion carried unanimously.
Park Maintenance and Repair
Councilman Keeler again presented his concerns over the increasing costs
in the area of park maintenance and repair. Much discussion followed as
• to methods of combating the problem. Jim Heiland joined in these discus-
sions and presented his views which were much appreciated. The following
game plan was agreed upon. Once we have an estimate of park maintenance
costs from the village office, meetings with the surrounding cities and
organizations which use Shorewood °s parks, will be conducted. The object
of the meetings will be to present what we view as a problem and search
for possible solutions.
Lot 13 and Lot 15 of Minnetonka Manor
Shorewood presently controls lots 13 and 15 of Block 12 located on
Minnetonka Boulevard near Ferncroft Lane. Elizabeth Matiak, who owns
lot 14, has requested the city allow these lots to go up for sale. See
attached memorandums. The park commission feels these lots would not be
suitable as park property and would not object to the sale of these lots.
Meeting adjourned at 9:20 P.M.
Next meeting of Park Commission to be February 18, 1980 at the Village
Hall, 7:30 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Don Goettelman, Chairman

NOTE ON: Lot 13 and I.,ot 15 of Mi, Manor
An agent for Elizabeth Matiak has contacted the office several.
times and asked if the City would consider removing lots 1.3 and 15,
Block 12, back to the taxrolls as private land to be offered
for sale.
Their concern in the matter:.
Elizabeth Matiak owns lot 14 (block 12) which is really too small
to build on. She would like to sell the lot but has not had
any success due to the size. She has been assessed a sewer unit
on the property and pays taxes on the lot each year. She feels
that if the two city lots were to go up for sale, that thev could
be combined -with her lot 14 and make a nice building site.
Have checked with Jerome and he feels the sites have no value as
parks, etc. to the City except to clear off the dead elm.
Mr. Wilson, owner of lot 10, 11 and'12, block 12, obtained
permission from the City sometime in the past to use the lot
as his own to keep the area kids from making a junk lot out of it
with tree houses, etc.
