• To the City Council Members:
The proposed abandanment of 32 miles of the Chicago and Northwestern
railroad track from Hopkins to Norwood presents a unique opportunity for the
metropolitan community.
The City of Shorewood Park Commission encourages the Metropolitan
Council Parks and Open Spaces Committee to assume the leadership role in
the acquisition of this property for our metropolitan park system.
In our intial thoughts on this subject, we could envision a trail for
a combination of all or some of these activities hiking, jogging, bicycling,
snowmobiling, ski touring and snowshoeing. lie would be glad to work with
you as a consultant in both the acquisition and development stages of this
project.
