100680 PK MINCITY OF SHOREWOOD PARK COMISSION MEETING , M I N U T E S SHOREWOOD CITY HALL MONDAY, OCTOBER 6, 1980 Meeting was called to order at 7:45 P.M. PRESENT: Chairman Don Goettelman, Gordon Lindstrom, Bob Nygaard, Conrad Schmid, and Carol Chapman ABSENT: Roger Stein and Councilman Keeler MINUTES OF September 2, 1980, approved as written. PROPOSAL FOR AMESBURY DISCUSSED. Bicycle trail proposal looks reasonable, but several questions were raised about proposed park area which would be in Deephaven. Can Deephaven land be legally preserved for use by Shorewood residents? Is land offered desirable, or full usable for park land (some appears to be quite low, perhaps is swamp). What can be done with the low areas? Who will develop it — the land developer, Amesbury residents, Deephaven? If Deephaven owns it, will it be possible to get it developed by Deephaven, for Amesbury Shorewood residents? Should we forget this proposal and concentrate on Shorewood land within Amesbury? No written explanation of the proposal has been seen by the Park Commission, and all indications are that its members would find the proposal unacceptable because there is no available park land within Shorewood /Amesbury for Amesbury residents, and Shorewood cannot guarantee anything in any other municipality. MAA football schedules have been received by Park Commission. Revised park plan has been received and will be read and reported back at the next meeting. Question to City Council: What is the status of the Christmas Lake access proposed by DNA? Irene Chanin has resigned; a replacement is needed. The meeting was adjourned at 9:40 P.M. Next meeting to be October 20, 1980. Respectfully submitted, Carol Chapman (Note to office staff: Some members of Park Commission still are not receiving copies of the minutes!)
