dated July 20, 1981. Motion carried 5-0.
COUNCIL REPORT
- Tad Shaw reported that there was discussion regarding the plans for the
softball field. Further, that Mr. Jim Jones of Minnetonka ConnRmity Services has
been contacted regarding the plans and that he in turn is having one of his
experts contact Don Wrazil regarding the specifications and requirements in order
to complete the field.
- Shaw reported that the Council had talked about the City Planner being made
available to assist in preliminary plans for the developing of Freeman Park.
The Park Commission requested that the Planner be contacted in regards to attend-
ing the Park Commission's August 17, 1981 Meeting.
Carl moved, Goettelman seconded, to invite the City Planner to discuss plans and
development of Freeman Park at the August 17th meeting. Motion carried 5-0.
PARK PLAN - FREIIKAN PARK
Goettelman acknowledged a telephone call from Mr. Mike Robinson, Department of
Transportation of Minnesota, on August 3rd. Mr. Robinson said the State would
give permission for the City to install two diamond- shaped signs with black on
yellow with wording of PARK ENTRANCE - 500 FEET or PARK EITTRANCE - 750 FEET.
The word CAUTION cannot be used. Further, the distance placed should not be
less than 500 feet and not more than 750 feet, but can be anywhere between 500
and 750 feet. Further, Mr. Robinson suggested that the City of Shorewood cut
down the trees at the entrance just north of Highway 7 and place a perpendicular
sign on Shorewood's property (not on the State's right of way) at the entrance
into Freeman Park.
Discussion followed and it was decided to revise the style of the entry sign.
The matter was tabled.

Conrad moved, Nygaard seconded, to adjourn at 9:22 P.M. Motion carried 5 -0.
Respectfully submitted,
