101981 PK MINCITY OF SHOREWOOD Regular PARK COMMISSION Meeting Monday, OCTOBER 19, 1981 MINUTES COUNCIL CHAMBERS 5755 COUNTRY CLUB ROAD 7:30 P.M. CALL TO ORDER IS Chairman Goettelman called the regular PARK COM4ISSION Meeting to order at 7:42 PM on Monday, OCTOBER 19, 1981. ROLL CALL Present: Gordon Lindstrom, Bob Nygaard (late), Roger Stein, Don Goettelman, Gary Carl, Carol Chapman; also, Council Liaison Tad Shaw Absent : Conrad Schmid (business), Dart Fahrenbruch (ill) APPROVAL OF PARK COMMISSION MINUTES DATED MONDAY, OCTOBER 5, 1981 Stein moved, Carl seconded, that the sentence under REPORTS regarding the Police Budget be eliminated in its entirety, and that the PARK COAUSSION'minutes dated October 5, 1981 then be approved as written. Motion carried 5-0. REPORTS =Manor Park. Lindstrom met with Zdrazil regarding the softball field. Some ad- justments were made in the field to improve the location of the field. = Freeman Park. There was discussion of funding for the Freeman Park'Plan and when to get started. Shaw will check with the City Administrator as to the status of the funding availability and if the Plan has been authorized for` go- ahead. = Freeman Park Signs. Goettelman is having difficulty in finding the proper method of making application to the Minnesota State Department of Transportation to get the final written approval for the installation of the signs. He is continuing to work on this matter. =Shaw reported that the Minnetonka Football Association has not signed a contract • nor have they provided evidence of insurance to the City. This was pointed out as being in violation of our ordinance. Subsequently, Carl moved, Nygaard seconded, that the Park Commission recommend to the Council that they investigate .this situation and act to enforce the ordinance as may be needed. Motion carried 6 -0. =Shaw also indicated he had taken the Hockey Contract with allcover letter to Jim Jones, Co- ordinator for Minnetonka Community Services, for the hockey people to sign and return prior to the beginning of the season along with the schedules. =Doug Uhrhammer, Shorewood's new City Administrator, was introduced to the Park Commission. He spoke regarding some of his concerns and to the increased involve - ment by the Park Commission in the future budgeting and planning of the Parks. =Sno - Skippers (per Park Commission minutes dated 9- 21 -81). Shaw said he would take the matter of the Sno - Skippers marking and maintaining the Snowmobile trails to the Council. ADJOURNMEN!' : Nygaard moved, Lindstrom seconded, for the adjournment of the Park Commission meeting of Monday, October 5, 1981, at 9:40 P.M. Motion carried 6-0.
