CALL TO ORDER
The meetings of both Monday, May 6, and Monday, May 20, were called to order at
6:30 p.m. when Chairman and Commissioners met at City Hall to car pool to the parks.
ROLL CALL
May 6, 1985
Present: Chairman Lindstrom, Commissioners Carl, Schmid, Kooi, Butterfield,
and Jakel; and Council Liaison Gagne.
Absent: Commissioner Hemping (medical leave)
May 20, 1985
Present: Commissioners Carl, Kooi and Jakel; and Deputy Clerk Niccum.
Absent: Chairman Lindstrom (excused), Commissioner Schmid (excused).
Council Liaison Gagne had a Council meeting. Commissioner Hemping

PARK VISITS
The following parks were visited by the Park Commission.

Freeman Park Badger Park
Cathcart Park Studer Park (City of Excelsior)
Crescent Beach Manor Park

The purpose of these visits to the parks was to see what repairs need to be done,
and items to be considered for future budgets, therefore I am writing them in a
different manner than usual so they can be used for these purposes. Please see
attached sheets.
ADJOURNMENT
May 6 - 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
May 20 - 6:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
• Check with City of Willmar for flag poles for parks (one Shorewood -one American)
• STUDER PARK - EXCELSIOR
The purpose of this visit was to look at the hockey rink and see if it is what
the City of Shorewood wants to do to their rinks when they replace them. The
cost of this rink was approximately $5000. Members of the Commission that were
present decided they would like to look at rinks in other cities.

*1. put fence across front of property - large posts with chain running through
the middle of the posts
2. mow and fertilize the ballfield [FE SHOULD BE DONE FIRST]
3. wall - leave alone - seems to be oka
4. Tennis court - replace cable crank
5. Picnic Tables
a. place around pond, especially in area south of warming house
b. move picnic table out of playground area
. 6. Electric box on warming house - [SAFETY]- make sure no juice in it

CATHCART PARK
1. Warming house

6. put fire -ring on stump near hockey rink
7. remove dead crabtree and stumps south of hockey rink
8. install play equipment on bald spot between tennis court and ballfield

FREEMAN PARK

3. fix lights over doors at warming house
4. put up lights for free skating rink
