resigned today, August 2, 1985, due to health reasons. Chairman Lindstrom
• said that she will recontact the Commission if she feels up to serving the
Commission at a later date.
PARK COMMISSION APPLICANT - KEN VOGEL
Mr. Ken Vogel of 19795 Excelsior Boulevard appeared before the Commission.
Mr. Vogel originally wrote to the Park Commission March 3, 1984. At that
time, Commissioner Jakel, who had resigned, found it necessary to return to
Shorewood. He requested reinstatement to complete his remaining term.
Because of his experience on the Commission, the Park Commission recommended
reinstatement to Council. Mr. Vogel's letter arrived the next day. Commission
contacted him and said they would contact him when another vacancy occurred.
This was done by letter and Mr. Vogel called and again expressed an interest.
Commission explained what they do, showed Mr. Vogel the park plans, and told
him that with his experience they felt he would be of value to the Commission.
Kooi moved, Carl seconded, to recommend to Council to accept Mr. Ken Vogel as
a new Park Commissioner. Motion carried unanimously.
TONKA MEN'S CLUB
Chairman Lindstrom explained to the Commission that Terry Klomps of the Tonka
Men's Club had gone to Freeman Park with the Vo Tech teacher. They talked about
scheduling the work for October. They will get back to the Park Commission

• PARK COMMISSION MEETING

AUGUST 5, 1985
TONKA MEN'S CLUB (Continued)
had gone over the proposed drainage pond plans and that the report that Shorewood
Oaks gave to the Park Commission on July 1, 1985, stating that here would be
50 - 100 loads of fill, is apparently no longer true.
They asked staff to ask Planner Nielsen to talk to Shorewood Oaks to see when
they are going to begin moving the dirt and if they can give any idea of how
much.
They also would like a written report from the City Engineer on his opinion
of where and how much fill will be needed.
They are making these requests because of their concern over expense to the
City. They would like both reports in time for the August 19th meeting.
PARK COMMISSION VACANCY
The Commission would appreciate having the newspapers contacted again regarding
the Park Commission vacancy.
MANOR FENCE ESTIMATES
Commission requested staff to contact Public Works Director Zdrazil a third
time to see if other estimates have been received so that the fence can be
built to protect Manor BaLlfield so repair can be done.
