Chairman Vogel called both the June 6 and the June 14 meetings to order at 7:00 P.M. ROLL CALL Monday, June 6, 1988 Present: Chairman Vogel, Commissioners Jakel, Christensen, Lindstrom, and Laberee; Council Liaison Brancel; and Park Staff Representative Niccum. Absent: Commissioners Andrus and Weatherly Tuesday, June 14, 1988 Present: Chairman Vogel, Commissioners Laberee, Christensen, Weatherly, Andrus • Absent: Commissioners Jakel and Lindstrom APPROVAL OF MINUTES Christensen moved, Jakel seconded, to approve the minutes of the meetings of Monday, May 16, 1988. Motion carried 5/0. LAWCON /LMCR GRANTS The meetings were held to make a decision regarding what to apply for in each grant, the Athletic and the Traditional. A 5 year Park Capital Improvement Plan was also done. MATTERS FROM THE FLOOR - JUNE 6 Manor Park Fence Christensen moved, Jakel seconded, to recommend to Council that a new 4' chain link fence be purchased and placed on the new property line. Motion carried - 3 ayes - 2 nays Manor Park Warming House Commissioner Christensen presented the Commission with a chart comparing the three warming house estimates. • Christensen moved, Jakel seconded, to recommend to council that the warming house bid be given to Western if the ceiling is changed to 5/8" plywood -1- MATTERS FROM THE FLOOR - JUNE 6 - Continued Manor Park Warming House 18 providing it is within code. Motion carried - 5/0 Badger Football Field - Soccer Use Jakel moved, Andrus seconded, to recommend to Council that the field is allowed to be used for womens soccer not more than 4 hours weekly, that a contract and insurance be provided, and that permission be cancelled in case of signs of wear. Motion carried 3 ayes- 2 ayes. Bauer Rainboy - Sprinkling System Christensen moved, Jakel seconded, to recommend to Council to accept Public Works Director Zdrazil's recommendation and purchase the Bauer Rainboy, nozzle, and 8 HP booster pump - or if Council does not wish to approve purchase - that they rent a unit for $2,100.00 for the season, 90% of this rental fee would be applied to the purchase price (5% int.). Motion carried - 5/0. Manor Park Tennis Court Christensen reported Public Works did a wonderful job of fixing the tennis court next to the retaining wall. Freeman Park Christensen expressed concern over the NE corner of the park, saying its so low. He requests that the Engineer check it out. Manor Park Vollevball Court Christensen is concerned over exposed boards and low sand in the volleyball court. Special Meeting A special grant meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 14th.
