several topics. This will also be the meeting where the Silverwood Park
area residents will be invited to look at the new park plan.
SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
Commissioner Lindstrom reported that this was the 7th Annual Excelsior
Softball Tournament.
He said the tent ended up in the parking lot. They sold a lot of
concessions. There was concern about dirt from the parking lot getting
into the food, especially because it was so windy. He said they would
have sold more concessions if the tent had been in a central location.
Hopefully next year this will be possible.
He said the Public Works Department hauled in 30 loads of aglime for
the west and south fields. One player was injured and taken away by
ambulance He said there were 6,000 people at the Excelsior Commons for
an art fair. It was raining on and off. No damage was done to the
grass.
He said he and Dan Randall were co-directors. He said Randall did a
great job overseeing everything and getting things in shape.
Lindstrom had some suggestions to improve the park. He suggested
putting the player's benches on the outside of the fields, and leveling
the ground with a retaining wall behind it (it is this way at Lake Ann
Park in Chanhassen). He also suggested bleachers, trees, and playground
equipment in that area. He said something has to be done in the
southwest corner of the south field. Niccum said Zdrazil is working on
this.
Christensen said Zdrazil and his his crew graded, spread aglime,
provided the water truck, the tractor, and sodded. He asked the
Commission to write a letter, and to send copies to Council. He also
felt the Council should co end Zdrazil and the crew for a job well
done.

asked him to tell them. He said she also mentioned the need for a tot
lot.
