052897 PK TOUR MINCathcart Park Tour 5/28/97 • Larry Brown suggested that additional grass seed be spread around Cathcart Park. After favorable weather and grass growth/stability have taken place, public works will notify administrative staff when sports activities may resume at the park. • Cathcart Park Tennis Court - request for tennis court manners sign; other tennis courts have this sign. Manor Park Tour 5/28/97 • Request for arborvitae to be planted on three sides of the Biff station • Graffiti on play structure: on red straight post next to spiral post • City Engineer Brown listed three options for the tennis court: • Re- surface it • Use small milling machine to remove 1 / top surface and then overlay with 1" new surface • Full reconstruction • Brown has contacted a tennis court professional to determine which option would be most cost effective. This person will examine all tennis courts in the city. • Manor tennis court net was not in place because reconstruction was scheduled this summer; Commissioners agreed to have the net replaced during the interim. Charlie noted that this tennis court had a lot of use last year. • Suggestion of two basketball hoops in the tennis court area. • Brown noted that the City provided baseball bases for some of the City's baseball fields. • Replacement of two trees - one died and one was run over. A question was raised about the planting of trees per year within the parks. Staff will research this issue. • Several shingles are missing on the warming house roof. • A pay phone was suggested for the warming house. • Broken conduit at base of light post adjacent to the warming house. Wiring should be inspected. • Paint doors on the warming house. • Re- seeding will be done next to the pond. Silverwood Park Tour 5/28/97 • Charlie explained that dirt had been hauled in and groomed. One large section has been re- seeded. Soil is not in good condition, and grass is difficult to grow in this area. • Commissioners requested that the City's property at Silverwood Park be marked to protect encroachment from adjacent property owners. • Four tree stumps in wood chip /bush area could be trimmed down to ground level to prevent tripping on it. • Basketball net is needed. Suggestion of pricing a chain net versus a nylon net. Badger Park Tour 5/28/97 • Tennis court has crack. Tennis court expert will examine this court with other city's tennis courts. • Wood fence and arborvitae for Biff. Location to be south of the hockey rink?
