present with the exception of Mr. Clyborne and Mr. Bean.
The first order of business was a request for a permit by Mr.
R. W. Reutiman to lower the grade of the east portion of Lot 173,
Auditor's sub-diVision #135.
The Planning Comrnissioninformed Mr. Heutiman that if he v'\!ould
furnish the Village COtLYlCil With a letter sta:ting his intention
in regaxd to the proper terracing of the East banl( of Lot 173,
Auditor's sub-diVision 135, the Planning Corunlission willil re-
Commend that this J)errnit be issuai. Motion carriai.

residential to commercial. The Planning Comrflissionrecommends
denial of the request on the grounds that the property is
sUl'roundoo on three sides by residentia~ axeas. All members,
Wi th the exception of Mr. Bean, who abstainai from voting, voted
to recomco.end denia.l of the request.
Next order of business was a request by Mr. Phil Scbmidt for
a splitting of 2, portion of the northerly 236' of Lot 209,
Auditor's Sub-di Vision 135, into two eqllal pa.:r~S~and add~ng
South 10' to the next lot south. It is recommena.oo by the
Planning Conunission tha.t this request be pe.rmittoo.
The next order of business Was a request by :Mr. Herbert
Schmidt for a sub-division of Lot 11, Auditor's sub-division
1/:133. The Plazrning Commission recontmends that this request be
denied for the reason that this request does not conform WithE
the ordinance.

OF THE
SHORE~OOD PLANNING COMMISSION
The Shorewood Planning Commission met at the Minnewashta School
on~ednesday evening~ May 31, 1961. The following members were
present: Mr. Jessup, Mr. Clyborne, Mr. Johnson, and Mrs. Petterson.
The first order of business 'l[V'asa request by Mr. Harry Anderson
for a re-zoning of his property. The Planning Commission informed
Mr. .,pillderson tb:at vve had already made our recommendation concerning
this property to the Village Cmmcil, and that he should contact the
Village Clerk.
In the next order of businesslIvas a request by Mr. Herbert J.
Schmidt, who submitted a revised .proposed sub-division of his
property. The PlarLYling Commission finds that this proposed sub-
division does not yet meet the requirements of the ordinance, and
recommends denial of this request.
Dr. Lloyd F. Sherman requests that he be permitted to incorporate
100ft. of his lakeshore prop€rty with 30ft. of lakeshore property
owned by- J\.fJr. Frank Kerber to make a residential tract of approximately
:3 7~OOO square feet. The members of the Plam1ing Commission agree
to recommend approval of this permit.
The petition of ntTr. Robert ]Hlson act ing for Mr. JV[arlinWinters.)
was returned to Mr .lI'Jilson for illore signatures of residents
immediately adjoining the property in question. If the approval of
a number of the residents is forthcoming, then the Planning Commission
will recommend to the Village Council, approval of this request.

on Wainesda;y evening, JUly 26, 1961, at 7:30 P.M. All members were
present, with the exception of Mr. Jessup, Chairman. Yr. J. B.
Jamr:rin of the Village Council also Was present.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the Secretary.
On the first order of business, :Mr. H. J. Schnidt re-subnli tted
his request for approval of his application to sub-d.ivide his property.
:Mr. Bliss mane a motion that the plat not be acceptai unless the plat
is revised to give 8 lots approxima:tely 40,000 square feet each.
Mr. Bean seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous in favor of this

motion.

The next order of business Was a motion by Mr. Bean, that in view
of the fact that the master plan for the village recommends that there
be no spot zoninC, a.nd. further in view of the fact that neither the old
grocery store nor the garage near the Eureka Crossing lend themselves to
the type of commercial actiVity that is for the over-a~l benefit of the
Village as a whole, the Planning Commission recormnends that the grocery
store property remain residential as presently zonoo., and that the
gexage property be re-zoned to residential.Mr. Bliss seconded. the motion.
Voting for the motion: Mr. Bean, Mr. Borgen, Mr. Bliss, Mr. Johnson.
Voting against the motion: Mrs. Petterson, :Mr. Clyborne.
