City Snow Removal riorities for snow removal operations have been designed to make roadways clear for safe travel. Once roadways are clear and an initial pass has been completed through cul -de -sacs, crews will make a final widening of roadways and clean up of cul -de -sacs. During successive snowfalls, the final widening of roadways and cleanup of cul -de -sacs may not occur until after the snowfall is complete. Once roadways have been cleared, the Public Works Department will begin to clear sidewalks and trails. The city recently completed an additional 10,000 feet of new sidewalk on Smithtown Road and County Road 19. The period of time that it takes for city crews to clear the walkways and trails varies by the amount of snow that falls for an individual event. Public Works tries to have the walkways and trails plowed within 2 to 3 days after a snow event. If you notice dangerous conditions, such as slippery intersections, please contact the city at 952.960.7900, or report the issue using the Public Works 8 online reporting system found on the home page of the city web site.
