Census 2020• Thanks for getting counted
Shorewood residents should have received
an invitation to participate in the 2020 U.S.
Census. Please complete the Census materials if
you have not.Acomplete Census count is important
to the city, county, state and school district. Federal
dollars and representation are determined by the
numbers determined in the Census.
Most invitations include the simple form that can
be completed online or in writing in 10 minutes or
less. If you do not have a computer available or
would like assistance completing the materials, city
staff is available to help. Simply call city hall and
set up a free appointment.

Water efficiency rebates nvailablp
ity of Shorewood is offering rebates for
WaterSense toilets, irrigation controls and
sprinkler heads. The funding is provided through
a grant from Metropolitan Council, the Clean
Water Legacy Amendment and Riley Purgatory
Creek Watershed District. Residents on municipal
water who replace older units with WaterSense
certified units are able to apply for rebates of up to
$50 per toilet (two maximum), $200 per irrigation
controller and $15 per sprinkler head (maximum
15). All products must be installed on a Shorewood
property and purchased between February 15,
2020, and March 15, 2022, while funds last. No
new construction homes or businesses qualify.

Be prepared for severe weather
For more than 20 years, the state of Minnesota
has conducted a Severe Weather Awareness
Week. This year, City of Shorewood and the
National Weather Service celebrate the week April
13 -17, 2020. Astatewide tornado drill is part of that
event. Watch for safety tips all week on the city

The Open Book meeting for the City of
Shorewood is Monday, May 4, 5 p.m., in the
Council Chambers of City Hall. This meeting is to
determine whether your property has been properly
valued and classified by the Hennepin County
assessor for your 2020 property taxes.
Sirens will be tested at 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.
on Thursday, April 16. If real severe weather is a
threat on or before the drill day, the tests may be
postponed or canceled.

Numbers of trees are very limited. Your check will be returned if
your choices are not available. Trees are first come first served.
Prior to the pick -up dates, you will receive a mailed reminder with
details about your order. Please bring that paperwork to the pick -up
event, or give it to your designated representative (if someone else
is picking up the trees for you) to ensure a smooth pick -up process.
Trees that are not collected on the designated dates will be planted
in Shorewood parks. No refunds will be given.
Submit payment in the form of a check payable to City of Shorewood
and mail to City of Shorewood Tree Sale, 5755 Country Club Road,
Shorewood, MN 55331. Orders may be mailed or delivered in person
to city hall. A 24 -hour drop box is located at city hall for your
convenience.

Ordering Trees
Avery limited number of trees have
been ordered and are offered on a
first -come, first -serve basis. The intent
of the sale is to diversify Shorewood's
tree stock in an effort to reduce the ef-
fects of tree diseases such as Emerald
Ash Borer and Dutch Elm Disease.
Orders will be processed for single
family homeowners. Townhouse and
association properties should contact
the city for order.
Unlike a retail nursery, these trees do
not have a warranty.
