RESOLUTION 21-049
A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE ADDITION TREE REMOVAL FOR GLEN ROAD,
AMLEE ROAD, AND MANITOU LANE STREET & UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS,
CITY PROJECT 18-08
WHEREAS, the City has entered into an agreement with Davey Tree Expert Company
for the Glen Road, Amlee Road, and Manitou Lane Street Improvements Project — Tree
Removals on March 8, 2021 in the amount of $130,542.07 for the Base Bid and
$1,742.98 per Tree for the Add Alternate which allowed for up to 31 trees; and
WHEREAS, the Add Alternate trees were for trees that were located on the property
line or slightly within private property and either had the root zone significantly impacted
by construction, or are ash trees; and
WHEREAS, City staff was still in process of securing a right of entry from property
owners for removal of said trees with the understanding that residents could refuse
granting the right of entry and the tree would remain; and
WHEREAS, all residents that the city requested a right of entry from, granted it.
Additional residents along the project raised questions about the impacts to trees that
would have the roots less severely impacted, and it was determined it was in the city's
best interest to remove additional trees now as part of the project; and
WHEREAS, Davey Tree Expert Company completed all the work in the Base Bid and
removed the additional 31 trees as part of the anticipated Add Alternate. An additional
39 trees beyond what were originally anticipated were less severely impacted by
construction and requested by residents to be removed for a total of $67,975.44.
NOW THEREFORE, IT RESOLVED: by the City Council of the City of Shorewood
hereby approve Change Order No. 1 and authorize payment in the amount of
$67,975.44 to Davey Tree Expert Company.
