A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PURSUIT OF THE MINNESOTA POLLUTION CONTROL AGENCY
IMPLEMENTATION GRANT FOR STORMWATER RESILIANCY FOR THE SHOREWOOD LANE
RAVINE PROJECT; CITY PROJECT 17-15
WHEREAS, $500 million in Minnesota Pollution Control Agency funding is available, with a
maximum award of $5,000,000 and a minimum local match of 10%; and
WHEREAS, the city has been pursuing efforts to improve the Shorewood Lane Ravine that has
seen significant erosion over the years; and
WHEREAS, the project scope and costs have significantly increased due to lower cost options
that were not permittable through the watershed and the city desires to secure outside funding
in order to advance the project; and
WHEREAS, staff will continue to work with the adjacent property owners and permitting
agencies to meet the grant application requirements; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHOREWOOD,
MINNESOTA AS FOLLOWS:
1. The city council supports the pursuit of the grant application and the project and agrees
to maintain such improvements.
2. The city assures that it will pay all costs associated with the project beyond the MPCA
Implementation Grant for Stormwater Resiliency award and that it will follow all of the
requirements of the grant for permitting, project design, project bidding, construction
administration, and project close out.
