RESOLUTION 24-029
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PURSUIT OF THE HENNEPIN COUNTY OPPORTUNITY GRANT
FOR THE SHOREWOOD LANE RAVINE PROJECT; CITY PROJECT 17-15
WHEREAS, Hennepin County has an ongoing grant program called an Opportunity Grant, with a
maximum award of $50,000 and the grant is intended to help fill funding gaps in larger projects
seeking multiple funding sources; and
WHEREAS, Shorewood has recently applied for the MPCA Resiliency Improvements Grant for
the Shorewood Lane Ravine project; and
WHEREAS, Hennepin County Road 19 sends 1.7 Acres if surface run off from its right of way,
most of which is impervious and untreated to the Shorewood Lane Ravine; and
WHEREAS, the city has been pursuing efforts to improve the Shorewood Lane Ravine that has
seen significant erosion over the years and the project scope and costs have significantly
increased due to lower cost options that were not permittable through the watershed and the
city desires to secure outside funding in order to advance the project.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHOREWOOD,
MINNESOTA that the City Council supports the pursuit of the Hennepin County Opportunity
Grant application and the project and authorizes staff to submit to Hennepin County an
Opportunity Grant application for City Project 17-15.
Adopted by the City Council of Shorewood, Minnesota this 22th day of April 2024.
